Hi Friend,

SUDEP Action Day and Walk for Epilepsy Double Donation Day

Today, let’s take a moment to remember those affected by SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy). It’s a serious and often overlooked risk associated with epilepsy, where a person dies suddenly and prematurely without any clear cause. While the exact reasons for SUDEP are still not fully understood, researchers have identified certain risk factors that can increase its likelihood. The good news is that there are steps that can be taken to reduce these risks, and raising awareness is key.

SUDEP Action Day is dedicated to encouraging people with epilepsy, their families, and health professionals to actively discuss the risks of SUDEP. By increasing awareness and understanding, we can help address care gaps and take steps towards saving lives. SUDEP affects approximately 1 in 1,000 adults with epilepsy and 1 in 4,500 children, underscoring the need for greater awareness and proactive action.
